😳 Nobody Cares About Your Content

Harsh truth: (Most) people don’t really care about your content.

Only you know how a post was meant to look.

Only you know the effort that goes into what you publish.

Your audience? They just see the tip of the iceberg.

If a post flops, who cares.

Your followers don’t see everything you upload anyway.

When I realised this, it was incredibly freeing.

We overestimate the extent to which our actions are the talk of the town.

This is known as The Spotlight Effect.

💭 Thought of the week

The Spotlight Effect 🔦

Research has shown that we often believe that our mistakes, appearances, or decisions are more noticeable to others than they really are.

For creators, understanding and embracing this can be liberating.

Here are 4 reasons why you should be glad nobody cares 👇

1. Freedom to experiment 🧪

If you're not always in the spotlight, that means you can take more risks without the fear of dealing with a mob of angry haters.

Don’t be afraid of trying new things.

If it doesn’t work, note the results and move on.

2. Less pressure, more fun 🎨

Once you let go of the weight of imaginary judgment, you can re-focus on the joy of creating.

This mindset shift can lead to enhanced creativity, as we are free to explore and create without worrying about other people’s expectations.

3. You can build a loyal audience 👥

Don’t hide your unique voice and personality for the fear of being “cringe.”

Nothing attracts more a loyal and engaged audience than authentic, passionate work.

Stop playing it safe all the time and carve out your own niche.

4. You can take a break 🍵

Everyone says that consistency is king (and they’re right).

But the world won’t end (and your audience won’t unfollow you) if you ever need to take a day off.

Prioritise self-care.

Always.

And remember:

Be aware of your audience and the broader implications of your content, but don’t get paralysed by the imaginary spotlight.

💡 A perspective to consider

Do you know when you’re most creative?

Knowing yourself is one of the best productivity hacks, period.

Stop making content hard for hard’s sake. Find your flow and enjoy the process.

❤️ Content I LOVED

🎙 Podcast - Jonny Wilkinson's interview with Peter Crone

- One of the best podcasts I’ve heard all year! Stay with it, as towards the end there are some mind-blowing concepts discussed. If you enjoy topics like exploring our potential then this one’s for you.

🎙 Podcast - The Diary of a CEO - interview with Sadhguru

- "If you try to enhance your activity, without enhancing yourself, you will only die of stress." This quote explains 95% of the stress I’ve faced as both a creator and a business owner. Taking on too much, too soon, is a ticket for stress and burnout.

🛠️ Tool - Loom

- I couldn’t live without Loom. It’s hands down one of the best tools out there for saving time. Loom allows you to send screen recordings to delegate work more efficiently and to collaborate asynchronously. You only need the free plan as it forces you to be concise.

✍️ Quote of the week

Life is a process of slowly giving you friction, in trials and tribulations, to remove what’s in the way of you actually understanding your divine complete nature.
